Stakehill part of Atom Valley: A hub for innovation and growth

Rochdale, Bury and Oldham, are part of a visionary project known as “Atom Valley”, a transformative initiative designed to establish a dynamic, interconnected manufacturing mega-cluster in Greater Manchester, which looks to blend world-class industry with cutting-edge research and development.

This would put Stakehill at the forefront of industrial advancement, providing plenty of opportunities and incentives for businesses to advance and thrive.

Atom Valley, which incorporates Stakehill Industrial Estate is a Mayoral Development Zone that was launched in August 2022. Unrivalled in scale within Greater Manchester, the project aims to deliver 17.3m sq ft of employment space for industrial use and create 7,000 low-carbon homes across its three main development sites – Northern Gateway, Stakehill, and Kingsway Business Park.

Atom Valley is expected to generate 20,000 high-quality jobs, significantly boosting the local and regional economy by leveraging existing strengths in advanced manufacturing, materials, and machinery, whilst integrating with Greater Manchester’s established research and innovation ecosystem.

Atom Valley has wider ambitions, to attract UK and international firms looking to establish new manufacturing plants, champion SMEs seeking modern premises for expansion, support start-ups and spinouts moving from research labs to full-scale production, and assist businesses and individuals aiming to benefit from world-class R&D and skills training facilities.

Stakehill is strategically located at J20 of the M62, it benefits from excellent transport links, being just 20 minutes from central Manchester and 30 minutes from Manchester Airport and can seamlessly integrate into Atom Valley’s vision to be a model for sustainable, inclusive economic development.

IDRE alongside professional teams from Savills are helping to align the estate with Atom Valley’s sustainability ambitions by fostering long-term regeneration, through high-quality refurbishments including; roof upgrades which allow for PV cells, removal of gas powered heating and cooling elements, LED lighting throughout, and tenant engagement to align units with their uses helping to reduce CO2 and pave the way for future sustainable technology upgrades. Atom Valley will enhance national prosperity, supporting the wider Greater Manchester area.

Taking space at Stakehill not only benefits business with an enviable location for employment pools and the motorway network, but provides a plethora of initiatives and incentives to help businesses to sustainably thrive and grow.
